Citation analysis

Find your next content insight in the pages AI cites.

Knowing your brand was mentioned does not tell you what to improve. See which pages an answer cites and which customer questions keep bringing them up.

Understand the evidence

Read the source in the context of the answer.

A brand appearing in an answer and a link to its website are different events. Follow the citation and read the source to understand the question it helps answer.

Put it into practice

Turn an observation into an informed decision.

  1. Find recurring sources

Look for domains and pages that appear across the same models and dates. Repeated citations across questions can be more useful than a single occurrence.

  2. Read the connected questions

Open the question and AI answer where a source appeared. Distinguish buying comparisons from instructions or explanations.

  3. Compare the source with your content

Review explanations, supporting evidence and freshness side by side. Improve the parts of your pages that leave customer questions unanswered.

What can you track?

Domain and URL-level analysis
Review citations detected in collected answers. Distinguish your own domain, competitor domains and other sources.
Sources connected to answers
Inspect related prompts and original answers as well as citation frequency. Not every AI answer includes source URLs.

How to interpret the results

Sources distinguish answer citations, search references and older records with an unconfirmed type (legacy). A search reference is not necessarily cited in the final answer. These records do not reveal the model’s full training data or hidden search process; read the original material to judge a source’s relationship to a claim or brand.
